RipplePHX is delighted to bring back our community-favorite, signature, large-scale HIV Testing Event – The Fall Carnival! This year’s Carnival will be held on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th at Stacy’s @ Melrose. We invite you to partner with RipplePHX to welcome Phoenix’s LGBTQ+ Community to participate in this exciting event to eat, drink, play, win and get tested!

Over 1,000 people attended last year’s Carnival over 2 days, more than 150 people received a Free Rapid HIV Test, and more than $5,000 was raised for 4 other nonprofit organizations through our Carny Takeover Program. We also partnered with 3 other HIV-organizations to provide a way to reach the people at the greatest risk for HIV by hosting this exciting, community-centric event!

This Year’s Ambitious & Important Goals:

This year, RipplePHX has set an ambitious goal to raise $50,000 at the Fall Carnival, which will help us build expanded critical community-based HIV programming in our new location as we continue the fight to end the HIV epidemic in Maricopa County. Additionally, we aim to provide Free Rapid HIV Testing to 200 attendees, while also providing linkage to HIV prevention and treatment services. Our Carny Takeover Program is also returning where volunteers from 4 other nonprofit organizations will “takeover” our game tents and receive 25% of all ticket sales sold during their time block. We’re also excited that Carnival will provide 50 paid opportunities to local artists, entertainers and influencers who are part of the RipplePHX Influencer Team throughout the Carnival, and 12 vendor spaces available at no cost for local, Latinx business owners to show-off their handmade treasures in our Market.

Some Favorite Carnival Moments

RipplePHX’s is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and our mission is to create ripples throughout the Phoenix LGBTQ+ Community around HIV Awareness, Testing, Prevention and Treatment. We are 100% outreach-based, and we seek to engage people who don’t typically seek services at traditional HIV brick & mortar organizations. We do this by piggy-backing on existing events in the community, building new relationships at locations to provide HIV testing, and by building our own signature events (like our weekly Lotería events, Drama-Rama movie nights or the Carnivals) to attract the people who don’t seek services on their own who are disproportionately affected by HIV to engage them in services.

HIV Testing is the gateway to prevention and treatment, and RipplePHX’s testing efforts have increased every year since we launched in 2018, but continue to stay focused and targeted to reach the people who need the services the most.

If you’ve ever seen us out and about, you’d probably think there’s no way a nonprofit could be having THAT much fun in the community, but by being an active part of the community, we’re able to normalize the conversations around HIV to attract and serve a wide range of people who wouldn’t typically seek the services on their own. That’s how we create the ripple!
